Mount Pleasant Smokehouse
“Its simple, utilitarian form is quietly elegant.”
From the original 18th century estate, the one-story smokehouse has been unaltered save for the addition of electric and Bulle Rock signage. The wood door with iron strap hinges gives way to a room 13 1/2 feet high with a bare earthen floor. On each wall, vent holes are arranged in a diamond pattern. Meat would have been hung on hooks mounted on the interior roof beams.
